Learn alongside Victoria during quarter one of 2026 for hands on opportunities with Highland cattle! We will meet once a month to learn about owning and managing cattle, confirmation, health, grooming and more.

Internship Program
January - April 2026
A four month internship focused around Highland cattle designed for those interested in pursing a career or working in the agriculture/livestock field. No experience is required but we do ask that agriculture and farming is in your long term goals!

I did not grow up on a farm but farming is my biggest passion!
I give so much credit to the individuals that took the time to teach me, in a hands on “learning by doing” sort of way. In an effort to do the same for others Black Rock Farm will be hosting a four month internship program that meets once a month, January through April 2026. We will be selecting twelve individuals from those who apply to participate in the program.
Applications are NOW OPEN and will close on December 31st, 2025 at 5:00pm EST. If selected, you will be notified via email by January 2nd, 2026.
REQUIREMENTS:
16yo+ with reliable transportation
Committed to attending all dates listed below
Capable of lifting 50lbs, can tolerate outdoor conditions such as cold weather, dust and haired animals.
No agriculture experience required but we do ask that you are planning on pursing agricultural goals in the future.

January 14th, 2026 | 3:30-5:30pm
Owning Highlands 101 - Facilities, operations and farm overview, tour, about us (60mins)
Hands on with Highlands - Cattle safety, haltering and brushing (60mins)
February 18th, 2026 | 3:30 - 5:30pm
Health & Nutrition | Emergency box supplies, emergency care 101, feed/mineral/nutritional needs (60 minutes)
Set up and working cattle though our chute system vs. squeeze gates (60 mins)
March 18th, 2026 | 3:30-5:30pm
Cattle Confirmation 101 - Guest speaker for cattle evaluation in pasture (60 mins)
Leading and Handling cattle for best presentation (60 minutes)
April 15th, 2026 | 3:30pm-5:30pm
